{"id":64,"date":"2019-08-26T22:35:14","date_gmt":"2019-08-26T14:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nckcanada.com\/2019\/08\/26\/work-permit\/"},"modified":"2022-10-20T01:55:34","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T17:55:34","slug":"work-permit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/nckcanada.com\/?p=64","title":{"rendered":"Work Permit"},"content":{"rendered":"<ol>\n<li><strong>Open Work Permits<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Applicant can work for any employer in Canada<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Employer \u2013 specific work Permits<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Applicant can work in Canada according to the conditions on your work permit, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the name of the specific employer you can work for<\/li>\n<li>how long you can work<\/li>\n<li>the location where you can work (if applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before you submit your application for an employer-specific work permit, the employer who wants to hire you must\u00a0complete certain steps\u00a0and give you either a copy of a\u00a0Labour Market Impact Assessment\u00a0or an offer of employment number to include in your application.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a document that an employer in Canada\u00a0<strong>may<\/strong>need to get before hiring a foreign worker.<\/li>\n<li>A positive LMIA will show that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job. It will also show that no Canadian worker is available to do the job. A positive LMIA is sometimes called a confirmation letter.<\/li>\n<li>If the employer\u00a0needs an LMIA, they\u00a0must apply for one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Post-graduation work permit (PGWP)<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>You have\u00a0<strong>180 days<\/strong>\u00a0after your school issues your final marks to apply for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP).<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, your study permit must have been valid at some point during these 180 days.<\/p>\n<p>You must also have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>completed a study program:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>at a designated learning institution<\/li>\n<li>that was at least 8 months long and<\/li>\n<li>that led to a degree, diploma or certificate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>maintained\u00a0<strong>full-time<\/strong>\u00a0status as a student in Canada during each semester of your study program (except your final semester, which can be part-time, or if you took a leave from studies)<\/li>\n<li>graduated from a:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>public post-secondary school, such as a college, trade\/technical school, university, or\u00a0CEGEP\u00a0(in Quebec), or<\/li>\n<li>private post-secondary school (in Quebec) that operates under the same rules as public schools in Quebec, or<\/li>\n<li>private secondary or post-secondary school (in Quebec) that offers qualifying programs of 900\u00a0hours or longer, that leads to a\u00a0dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes professionnelles (DEP)\u00a0or an\u00a0attestation de sp\u00e9cialisation professionnelle (ASP), or<\/li>\n<li>Canadian private school that can award degrees under provincial law (for example, Associate, Bachelor\u2019s, Master\u2019s or Doctorate degree)\u00a0<strong>but only if you\u2019re enrolled in a study program that leads to a degree as authorized by the province<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Co-op Student or Intern Work Permit<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Some study programs include work experience as part of their curriculum.
